It was in New Jersey of all places that George Clinton started his obsession or simply occupation, with funk and his unique-looking hair. In 1955, George Clinton formed the Parliament/Funkadelic collective from the back room of a barber shop, where young Clinton used to straighten hair for clients for a living. Today the Parliaments are funk history, as is his hair.
